English Ivy Project

English Ivy video

We have been removing invasive English Ivy from sensitive areas such as Seton Park, Dry Creek Park, the estuary and dike for several months now. English Ivy is a problem in Port Alberni as it continues to spread and reduces biodiversity within forested areas. These students from Gill School learned about English Ivy on a forest walk and wanted to make a difference. Royal Bank staff wanted to come out and assist the students. West Coast Aquatic, RBC and Wild BC all worked together with the Gill School students to remove English Ivy from an area known as the “Donkey Trail”.
